Northampton County Housing Authority Statement on Federal Government Shut Down.

The federal government is currently shut down. At this time, the Northampton County Housing Authority is still processing housing assistance payments and providing services without interruption. Residents and landlords may check our website for updates. We are committed to keeping you informed and supporting our community through this time of uncertainty.

Government Shut Down – Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  1. Will my rent still be paid?

Yes, for now, the Housing Authority is still processing housing assistance payments to the landlords. If the shutdown continues for a long time, there may be delays.

  1. Should I keep paying my portion of the rent?

Yes, residents are still responsible for paying their share of the rent on time, as stated in the lease.

  1. What happens if the shutdown lasts longer?

We are monitoring the situation closely. If funding is delayed or interrupted, we will update residents and landlords right away and share the next steps.

  1. Will the Housing Authority offices stay open?

Yes. Our staff is still here to answer questions, provide support and keep services running as expected.

  1. How will I get updates?

We will post updates on our website, social media and through direct notices if needed.

  • Rent Payments: We are still paying housing subsidies. If the shutdown continues

for a long time, there could be delays.

  • Your Share of Rent: Residents must keep paying their portion of rent on time.
  • If Shutdown Lasts Longer: We will notify you immediately if there are changes.
  • Housing Authority Offices: We are open and here to help.
  • Updates: Check our website, social media or contact us directly.

***Important Update: Rental Stability Program**

Due to circumstances beyond our control, we regret to inform you that funding for our Rental Stability Program has been suspended.

We have documented all calls and emails received up until 11:00 AM on Monday, August 11th, 2025, and placed them in the order they were received. Should funding become available again, your position on the list will remain unchanged.

Please note that any inquiries received after 11:00 AM on August 11th will not be added to the list.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Our team was truly committed to supporting our local community, and we remain hopeful that we’ll be able to resume assistance in the future.

Public Notice of Waitlist Closure

 The Northampton County Housing Authority is closing the waiting list for Goepp St. Apartments, due to current wait times exceeding 12 months.

The waiting list will close at

4:00pm on Tuesday, July 15, 2025.

 Applicants already on the waitlist will not be affected and we will continue to process all applications in the order received. When the determination has been made to reopen the waiting list, a public notice will be posted. Visit the Housing Authority’s website for additional information at www.northamptoncountyha.org

EQUAL HOUSING OPPORTUNITY

June 3rd, 2025-Northampton County Housing Authority’s new days and hours are
as follows: Monday through Thursday, 7:00AM to 12:00PM and 12:30PM to 5:30PM, Public Housing and HCV offices are by appointment only, Monday through Thursday. The office will be closed on Fridays.

July 17th, 2024- Regular Board Meeting Notice: The Northampton County Housing Authority will hold a regular monthly board meeting on Monday, July 22, 2024, at 4:15 p.m. The meeting will be held in person at the Oliver Border House Community Room, 15 S Wood Street, Nazareth, PA or join via ZOOM, login details to be published on the website. Please contact Ms. Didden at (610) 759-8488 for further inquiries.

June 3rd, 2024- The Housing Choice Voucher/Section 8 department will be offsite for training from Monday June 24th to Friday June 28th. Please refer to the HCV FAQs page on our website to answer any questions you may have during this absence. Business will resume for this department upon their return on Monday July 1st, 2024.

May 21st, 2024- The Northampton County Housing Authority will open the Goepp St waiting list on June 10th, 2024, at 9 A.M. Applications will ONLY be accepted online at www.northamptoncountyha.org.

Applicants who are unable to complete the online application due to a disability should call (610)759-8488 ext. 20 for further assistance.

May 15th, 2024- The Housing Choice Voucher (HCV/Section 8 Program) and Intake Department will be seeing participants by appointment only Monday through Friday between 8am and 3pm. If you require an appointment please call the office at 610-759-8488 option 3 for HCV/Section 8 program appointments and 610-759-8488 option 4 for Intake Department appointments
